Alexandrie-Marseille: échanges entre deux territoires métropolitains

In the framework of the exchange between the two Mediterranean cities Alexandria and Marseille, this project is an exchange between the students of the architecture department, the faculty of Engineering/ University of Alexandria, and the students of the architecture École nationale supérieure d’architecture de marseille – ENSA•Marseille.

The educational objective of this work is to immerse the students in the territory. It’s a form of exploratory research about the city transformations, the notion of heritage, the question of the limits of the city, and the relation between the city center and periphery. I was in charge of building the urban observation in Alexandria, and reflecting on the present state of the city’s culture and identity.

I will also be the curator for the exhibition that will show all the projects proposed by the Egyptian and French students as a conclusion to their observations on the two metropolises. The exhibition is planned to start by the 2nd of October 2022, whilst the two residencies were in February 2022 in Alexandria and Marseille in March of the same year.

This project is supported by  Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the University of Alexandria, and the French Institute in Alexandria.
