Sustainable urban development Workshop, young environmental leaders program

It was a great pleasure to co-lead the Sustainable urban development Workshop, young environmental leaders program by Friedrich Ebert & وزارة البيئة – Ministry of Environment. I am very proud to work with this talented, smart and very well educated team of young people. And proud that Egypt has such enlightened people. It was also a great pleasure to work with May El TabbakhMostafa Ali Abul-ElaHeba Ahmed Attia and Waleed Mahmoud Mansour.

The sustainable urban development Workshop is focused on planning, development and sustainability of urban historical centers/downtowns, as they all share the same characteristics, which are: high concentration of people on a limited space, high requirement for transportation, dependence on outside resources and creation of pollution and waste. The aim of this two days workshop was to present the participants with historical and theoretical approach of historical centers urban development and the challenges that decision makers faces in order to find a sustainable strategies in terms of living, transportation, climate-change and finances.
