CITIES miniatures Vol.1

ALEXANDRIA

Miniature art has a long history that dates back to the scribes of the medieval ages. In this series of cities miniatures, I am trying to build visual observations on the cities I visit. I draw to express my thoughts and feelings about places/ buildings that shape the city. I am trying to present the landmarks, art, architecture, and culture of Alexandria in the form of mini sketches and drawings, that aims at celebrating the richness of the city’s cultural and built heritage. These visual observations and records could be accurate or not but they are my voice.

The final product is the result of mini sketches manually drawn in Gouache and Aquarelle paintings on 100% cotton Arches paper/gold-pressed 300 g/m2, size 14.8 x 10.5 cm. They are later to be produced in printed copies of limited numbers, in order to be accessible to wider groups of art lovers as a way to exchange views and perspectives on the city. The postcards are presented in handmade recycled paper box from Egypt.

The final product is the result of several layers of mini sketches manually drawn and cut out of paper. Then collected together to build theatrical scenes from Alexandria, which was later photographed in unique hand-cut and signed postcards
